Vágar is the third largest Faroe Island and is located in the west of the archipelago. We stayed here for a few days in Miðvágur, from where the island's attractions are easy to reach.
From Miðvágur, the Witch's or Troll's Finger in Sandavágur can be easily reached on foot, it is only around 6 to 7 kilometers one way.
However, it is better to travel to Mulafossur by car. Before the waterfall, the road leads through a narrow tunnel, which is a driving challenge, especially when driving in oncoming traffic. But the effort is worth it, the waterfall plunges into the depths like a string of thread and creates net-like structures on the surface of the North Atlantic. Capturing this event on camera requires some experience. If you don't succeed, you can find consolation in the many puffins and fulmars, which you will never want to stop taking photos of.
A hike to Lake Leitisvatn is another highlight of this island. You walk along the lake to where it flows into the North Atlantic, where it also flows as a waterfall. The circular path leads ever higher up the cliff ridge and offers fantastic views of the rugged coastline and small offshore islands.
